    Length of service is length of service in certain areas, which gives the right to receive a separate type of pension. According to the legislation of our country, astronauts have the opportunity to receive such a payment.

    The assignment of this pension is regulated by the law of December 15, 2001 No. 166-FZ “On state pension provision in the Russian Federation.”

    Persons from among the cosmonauts may be provided with state support for long work experience, and, if conditions exist, an old-age insurance pension.

    What is the reason for leaving early?

    Before any flight into outer space, astronauts are examined. A strict medical board checks mental stability and the absence of diseases, including using modern simulators and devices.

    Medical workers are required to check a specialist before each subsequent spacewalk, since working in a state of weightlessness leads to the development of the following diagnoses:

    • Vestibular disorder;
    • Swelling;
    • Back pain;
    • Radiation exposure.

    It is not for nothing that work in the field of astronautics is considered a harmful and dangerous profession for human health. On board a spaceship, astronauts have to consume vitamins and high-calorie foods. This leads to obesity. And you can lose weight only on Earth through intense physical activity.

    Astronauts retire when they are unable to perform their duties due to health reasons. Thus, American test pilot Scott Nely retired at the age of 52. In Russia there are also corresponding benefits for harmfulness.

    For example, cosmonauts are awarded the highest officer rank, which gives them the right to:

    • submitting a resignation report prematurely;
    • count on a decent pension;
    • additionally receive a service pension.

    Reasons for appointment

    The rules for establishing monetary support from the state in connection with the retirement of Russian citizens of the profession in question are established by the general law on pensions in Russia. However, a separate norm is devoted to the conditions for providing pension benefits to astronauts.

    To receive monthly payments from citizens who have dedicated their working lives to astronautics, the following conditions must be met:

    1. Work in one of the specialties in the field of space exploration, designated by law.
    2. Having the required work experience in the above specialty.
    3. Years of service in the flight test department.

    Among the professions in which work provides the right to receive a preferential pension, the following are highlighted:

    • test cosmonaut;
    • cosmonaut-researcher;
    • test instructor-cosmonaut;
    • instructor-cosmonaut-researcher.

    To qualify for preferential benefits, the total length of service in the specified professions must be at least 25 years for men and 20 years for women. And only in the event of a forced cessation of work in this field due to deteriorating health conditions, it is reduced to 20 and 15 years for men and women, respectively.

    The very fact that a citizen’s work record book contains labor activity in the specified positions does not give the right to preferential benefits. To do this, it is necessary to serve directly in a flight test unit for several years. For men, the period of such work must be at least 10 years; for women, the period is 2.5 years less and amounts to 7.5 years.

    In addition, it matters from what position a person retires. Thus, only those persons who have completed their working career in the space sector in cosmonaut corps can apply for payments in connection with length of service.

    And the latter, in turn, should act as flight test or flight research units of scientific testing, research centers and other organizations of federal executive authorities and other organizations.

    The age of the person leaving the specified job in the space industry does not matter for the assignment of pension payments. To obtain this right, it is sufficient to comply with the condition of length of service (length of service) in this field.

    How is work assessed?

    The pension of cosmonauts in Russia primarily depends on the salary at the workplace. The salary depends on the role played by one or another employee.

    Examples of salaries from January 1, 2013:

    Job titlesalary
    astronaut candidate60 thousand
    Astronaut70 thousand + bonus for length of service
    astronaut after flight70 thousand + bonus for length of service + travel allowances (up to 130 thousand rubles)
    Training staff (instructors)90 thousand + allowances (up to 200 thousand rubles)

    In addition, people working in the field of astronautics receive bonuses for their academic degrees and bonuses for the implementation of plans to conquer the Universe. Wages can be very high, which has a positive effect on the formation of a pension in the near future.

    Payment of pensions to astronauts and members of their families

    Pensions for astronauts are transferred every month . The pensioner can choose the organization that will deliver the payment, as well as the option for receiving it. Moreover, a trusted person can receive payments for a pensioner. In this case, the pension will be paid by proxy.

    Pension delivery methods:

    • Russian Post - it is possible to receive a pension at the post office at the place of registration or at home. In this case, the date of its receipt is set in accordance with the delivery schedule. If you do not receive a pension payment within six months, it is suspended, and you must write an application to the Pension Fund for its renewal.
    • Bank - it is possible to receive a pension at the bank's cash desk or get a card and withdraw money through an ATM.
    • With the help of organizations involved in the delivery of benefits , you can receive a pension at home or yourself in this organization. The entire list of such organizations is in the Pension Fund.

    To choose a delivery method or change it, you need to write an application to the territorial office of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, which was responsible for assigning your pension payments.

    Conditions for receiving comonaut pensions in Russia

    In order to be granted a long service pension, you must complete your career in the following positions:

    • an astronaut who spent the last years before retirement engaged in research and testing;
    • instructor training astronauts.

    Place of work - strictly scientific organizations, associations organized by executive departments. At the same time, the state controls the activities of scientific institutions; they report on the results directly to the “powers that be.”

    Experience requirement

    Experience requirements remain the same. Future service pensioners must work in flight establishments for at least 10 years (for men) and 7.5 years (for women). In this case, the total work experience must be at least 25 (for men) or 20 years (for women).

    If work activity is completed ahead of schedule due to health problems, then the total length of service of astronauts is allowed:

    • 15 years for females;
    • 20 years for males.

    How much did Soviet cosmonauts earn?

    The Soviet cosmonaut was, first of all, a highly professional pilot. As a military man, he was paid a salary in accordance with his rank and position, as well as length of service. Each rocket flight was accounted for separately at a special rate.

    After the first visit to near-Earth orbit, the officer was awarded the rank of USSR pilot-cosmonaut. Also relied on:

    • apartment;
    • car;
    • free fuel for it.

    The first cosmonaut in world history, Yuri Gagarin, was awarded a bonus beyond that described by the government:

    • a set of furniture for a new home;
    • several sets of bedding;
    • clothes;
    • consumer electronics;
    • tableware.

    His monthly salary in 1962 was 514 rubles, which at that time was a very large amount.

    Calculation of pension benefits

    By presenting your average income at your last place of work, you can approximately find out your level of monthly pension support. For astronauts this is 55 percent of their previous allowance. Also, the pension amount increases during overtime. Each year worked in excess of the norm is taken into account when calculating the standard service pension.

    The form looks like this:

    Pension amount (P) = monthly salary assigned by the Government of the Russian Federation (D) * 55 percent (55%)

    P=D*55% - with a total work experience of 20 (15; 7.5) and 25 (20; 10).

    If the length of service in a position is exceeded, then additional coefficients are applied:

    L – the number of years that is greater than the target for retirement.

    In this case, the formula is converted into another form:

    P=D* 55% + D*3%*L – with length of service that exceeds the indicators established by the legislative acts of the Russian Federation.

    Thus, the pension of cosmonauts in Russia during processing is 85 percent of the previous monetary allowance.

    Calculation example. Citizen K has the right to a long-service pension, since he completed his work experience in the cosmonaut corps. His salary was 80 thousand rubles, and his total experience was 22 years.

    80,000*55%+ 80,000*3%*2 (years of processing)=44,000+4,800=48,800

    A few facts

    Not everyone knows, but in Russia there are not many direct cosmonauts who fly into space and explore the unknown expanses of Space. At the moment, only 34 people are officially listed on the Russian cosmonautics staff. And this is very little. This is due to the fact that to become a practicing cosmonaut you need not only to want it, but also to have incredible health and strength. According to the current requirements, an applicant for the cosmonaut profession must have a higher education, specializing in physics, biology is acceptable. He must have at least 160 parachute jumps behind him, and he must also be a former test pilot by profession. As you can see, the requirements are high, so only a small percentage of willing people pass the selection and enter the ranks of such specialists. Regarding age, it is considered that the most ideal age is 27-30 years. Of course, this is an ideal option, beyond which you can sometimes go. For example, there are astronauts aged 40 and even 55 years old. They say that in the history of Russian cosmonautics there is a striking example of a person who began his career at the age of only 50 years.

    Thus, it turns out that a person can retire as an astronaut at different ages, depending on the age at which he entered this field. This is due to the fact that, according to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, an astronaut has every right to retire earlier than the generally accepted age.

    Conditions for applying increased premiums

    The list of cosmonauts also includes those persons who were awarded, unreasonably convicted during the period of Stalinist repressions, or actively participated in the sports life of the USSR (Russian Federation). Thus, Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation receive 100 percent bonuses to their pensions.

    Other categories of citizens who are entitled to allowances:

    Olympic and Paralympic Champions+50 percent
    Persons awarded the orders “Labor Glory”, “For Service to the Motherland in the USSR Armed Forces of three degrees”+15 percent
    Former prisoners of concentration camps during the Second World War+32%
    Illegally repressed and then rehabilitated+16%

    State superannuation pension

    The main provision for astronauts in old age is the payment of a state pension for long service. But this type of payment is assigned only if certain conditions are met.

    Who is entitled to

    Preferential payments are not provided to all employees involved in the space industry.

    Rice. 1. Training Center named after. Gagarin

    Only:

    • test cosmonauts;
    • astronaut researchers;
    • test cosmonaut instructors;
    • instructors-cosmonauts-researchers.

    The list of positions may change based on additional legislative acts approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

    The requirements apply not only to the position, but also to the place of work from which the specialist retires early. These include detachments or groups that belong to flight research or flight test units in:

    • scientific testing centers;
    • research centers;
    • organizations of federal authorities;
    • other organizations.

    Note! Requirements for the title of the position and place of work are also put forward when assigning long-service pensions to doctors and teachers.

    How long do you need to work?

    To go on vacation earlier, testers or researchers are required to have long specialized experience.

    Rice. 2. To get 25 years of output, you will have to work until you are 48–53 years old.

    Table 2. Earnings to receive a state superannuation pension

    After the assignment of long-service payments, the cosmonaut does not have the right to continue working in the relevant department. However, the applicant can, if health permits, continue to work and refuse the preferential pension in favor of using it in the future when calculating the incentive coefficient.

    How are payments calculated?

    When calculating the pension provision of a cosmonaut, only the amount of monetary allowance is taken into account (55% is taken) and the output exceeding the length of service (3% for each year of overtime).

    Rice. 3. Yurchikhin Fedor Nikolaevich, spent a record 672 days 20 hours 38 minutes in space, continues to work at the training center

    The formula used for calculation is:

    GP = 55%*DDV+3%*DDV*Dst, where:

    • GP – state pension;
    • DDV – monetary allowance;
    • Dst – additional output.

    In this case, the maximum possible amount cannot exceed 85% of the salary.

    According to Forbes, the average salary of a ship pilot on Earth is 250,000 rubles. Let's calculate what the pension of a male cosmonaut will be with such material support and 30 years of work.

    GP = 0.55*250,000+0.03*250,000*5=137,500+37,500 = 175,000 rub.

    The maximum possible amount of payments at this salary is 212,500 rubles. Since the estimated pension does not exceed the maximum value, the pilot will be awarded a payment of 175,000 rubles.

    Note! During the stay in orbit, material support is paid in the amount of 1,750,000 rubles. per month. Accordingly, when calculating pension payments, the increased salary is taken into account.

    If payments are made ahead of schedule, 2% of the additional income is deducted for each missing year of production.

    Additional payments to state security

    In addition to the additional payment for each year of overtime, amounts for the care and maintenance of dependents may be added to the pension.

    Note! The social pension, as of the beginning of 2020, is set at 5,034.25 rubles. per month. From April 1, 2020, social payments will be indexed by 2.4%.

    For cosmonauts living in the Far North and equivalent areas, payments are paid taking into account the regional coefficient. When leaving a region with difficult living conditions, the additional payment is waived.

    Additional guarantees for dependents

    The work of an astronaut is work that is important for the development of humanity, science, and expanding the boundaries of the possible. Carrying out instructions from Roscosmos, cosmonauts risk their health and lives. Their close relatives should not suffer because of this.

    According to the law of the Russian Federation, dependent families of astronauts receive a monthly allowance in the event of the tragic death of their father, son, or husband. A survivor's pension is sometimes granted for an indefinite period and is paid to family members who are unable to work for adequate reasons. It is 40 percent of the income of the deceased citizen.

    Families have the right to additional guarantees during the life of the former astronaut.

    Conditions for receiving:

    • age from 55 years;
    • recognition of disability.

    The number of payments depends on the number of dependents (minor children, mother of the child, elderly father and mother):

    Number of dependentsPercent

    two64% of previous contentment
    three100% of monthly income

    Package of documents

    To obtain a well-deserved pension, a serviceman who has left the army must collect a complete set of documents within 10 days:

    • Russian passport and its copy;
    • an identification number;
    • work book and copies of completed pages;
    • military ID;
    • insurance number of an individual personal account;
    • income document;
    • pension certificate from the military registration and enlistment office.
    • to receive special benefits, you must provide a certificate of family composition, medical reports and other certificates proving your right to a cash increase;
    • A statement written in your own hand.

    Upon retirement, a serviceman can no longer continue to serve in the same place. If he decides to continue working, he will be transferred to a position that does not provide a preferential pension.

    To apply for a pension, an astronaut needs to collect a similar package of documents, namely:

    • confirmation of the position held;
    • certificate of award of a long-service pension;
    • passport;
    • document on work experience;
    • income certificate;
    • transfer to another position that allows you to purchase benefits (if any);
    • certificate of disability and other documents confirming the right to benefits (if available).

    Thanks to regular rate increases, cosmonauts' pensions are also increasing, which cannot but affect their well-being.
