In connection with the law, personal information is indicated in SNILS, including first name, last name and patronymic. If a person changes his last name, for example, as a result of marriage, then it must be changed in the document. The obligation to report a change in personal data may lie with the citizen or the employer.

The document must also be exchanged if other personal data contained in it is changed.

I often want to know what consequences can await. If the information in the document is inaccurate, you will not be able to prove the acquisition of the right to a pension. Also, you will not be able to get an official job. If you are at work and the employer will deduct insurance premiums, they may go to the wrong account if the last name has not been changed. Penalties from the state have not yet been provided.

From 01.04.2014 it is not necessary to exchange the old type pension insurance certificate.

Procedure for preparing documents for changing an insurance certificate

The issuance of pension insurance certificates is the prerogative of the Russian Pension Fund. The document can be completed personally or through the employer. The application must be submitted within a month after the last name change. If you apply for an exchange certificate yourself, you will have to contact the local office of the Pension Fund or the MFC to submit documents, but you can now prepare the application at home using the State Services service.

Log in to the government services portal using your account.
On the home page, find the Services tab.
Go to the authorities section, and there select the Pension Fund.
A page will load listing all available services. Scroll down and find the subheading Non-Electronic Services.
Click on the link “Receiving questionnaires from citizens for the purpose of registration in the compulsory insurance system.” By clicking on the link, you can order the initial issue of the certificate, a duplicate or an exchange. Choose an exchange.
A page with background information about the exchange procedure will load. Go to the section on documents and application form ADV-2.
Proceed to filling out the form. You will need to indicate the insurance number indicated in the old certificate and new initials, date and place of birth according to the passport. Information about registration and place of actual residence is noted.

The data can be entered electronically, or you can fill out a printed form legibly in block letters.
Once completed, the form is dated and signed by the insured person. In addition to the application form, the pension fund department must prepare a passport, a document confirming the change of surname (marriage certificate, adoption certificate), and an old SNILS. When preparing documents for relatives or other third parties, you will need a representative’s passport and a power of attorney.

On the day of application, the application is registered, and the applicant receives notification of acceptance and registration of the request. One working week is allotted for re-issuing the document.

Replacing SNILS when changing your last name through the MFC

Previously, the document was exchanged only through the Pension Fund, but now it can be obtained by visiting any MFC institution. You need to go through the following steps.

Prepare the required package of documents (passport, application).
Take a turn at the reception through the city resource or by calling the hotline.
Providing the necessary documents and obtaining an individual order number.
Obtaining a new SNILS at the same branch of the MFC.

After submitting all the documents, you will be given a receipt with the order number. Thanks to it, you can track the status of your order on the website of your local MFC.

In the ADV-2 application, you need to indicate information such as the full name of the old SNILS, new last name, account numbers, and date of registration. Other information may be required. At the end you need to sign.

What is SNILS

A similar abbreviation abbreviates the insurance number of the individual personal account of an individual insured in the compulsory pension insurance system in Russia. First of all, it is necessary when applying for employment or concluding contracts or providing services for which payments will be made to an individual.

Time frame for replacing SNILS

Changing SNILS through different institutions has different deadlines. In addition, there is no final date for the operation. But there are limits set, no later than which you will be able to receive an updated document. The operation may be completed faster than the deadline, depending on the volume of work and the queue.

Through the Pension Fund

The document will be processed by employees of the Pension Fund branch in the established order. The operation takes no more than 2 weeks , after which you can go to the department on a working day to pick up your SNILS.

Through State Services

You can’t hesitate to change your SNILS. After the official change of surname and the indication of a new one in the passport data, the application for the SNILS exchange must be received by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation no later than 2 weeks . received through State Services takes no more than 3 weeks to , after which you can receive a new document at the Pension Fund branch.

How to find out SNILS number online by last name

You can find out your personal account number online through two Internet portals:

Public services;
Pension Fund website.

In both cases, a person must have a login and password to enter the resource. The catch is that registration on the sites is only possible when you enter your SNILS number. Thus, you can get information there if you previously created an account and then lost the number.

Third-party Internet resources do not have information about citizens’ personal account numbers, as this is confidential information. SNILS can be found out by personally contacting the Pension Fund or your employer.

Why you may need to change your SNILS

The insurance number of an individual personal account is replaced in case of any change in personal information. During the initial registration of SNILS, a personal account in the Pension Fund is opened for the applicant. It is the main thing to ensure a future pension. The employer systematically sends contributions (transfers) to the number assigned to the citizen, the amount of which will determine the pension. But if the data in the passport and in SNILS differ, the receipt of contributions to the personal account becomes impossible.

Changing SNILS is also required to apply for most federal or regional benefits, subsidies or social services. SNILS is included in the mandatory list when collecting documents for child benefits, maternity capital, compensation for the purchase of vouchers, medicines, and so on.

An insurance pension number with up-to-date information is required when receiving remote services of municipal or federal jurisdiction. For example, if this document is missing or invalid, registration in the State Services portal will be unavailable; You will also not be able to log into your Personal Account on the Pension Fund website and get acquainted with current information about your work experience and the number of accumulated pension points.

Last name change

Changing your maiden name after civil registration is a common reason for updating your insurance certificate.
