Upon retirement, the size of the payment is determined, for which not only average earnings are taken into account, but also length of service. Typically this parameter varies from 30 to 40 years. With such experience, citizens can count on a decent payment and a secure old age.
But some people prefer to continue working when they reach retirement age. Therefore, their length of service increases annually, which often leads to an increase to 50 years. This leads to an increase in pension due to the accumulation of additional points, and a special additional payment is assigned.
If the work experience is over 50 years, is the pension increased?
If a retired person continues official work, then his length of service and the number of points accumulated increase annually. Therefore, the monthly payment increases by 81.5 rubles. If the length of service exceeds 40 or 45 years, then the state rewards such citizens with a special increase, which amounts to 5 individual coefficients, so the pension increases by 407 rubles.
A limited number of citizens have at least 50 years of work experience, so the state offers significant financial support to pensioners who, even in old age, prefer to work officially. If the total output reaches 50 years, then the citizen receives a fixed monthly additional payment, the amount of which is 1063 rubles.
Important! Additionally, the pension is recalculated, so the total amount of the payment increases.
Every year, working pensioners receive an increasingly substantial pension based on recalculation and indexation taking into account changes in inflation. They can count on special bonuses based on production. But the supplement is allocated not from the Pension Fund, but from social protection.
With an increase in work experience, the pensioner should not independently submit any applications to PF employees or the employer. Recalculation is carried out automatically annually, so when a specific indicator is reached, representatives of the Pension Fund charge an additional amount.
But if the length of service reaches 50 years, then the citizen will have to apply for additional payment independently , since the money is allocated from the employment center. To do this, representatives of the organization are given a correctly completed application, a certificate of retirement, a work record book and a passport.
At the regional level, pensioners with long service have the right to local payments and benefits, and you can find out about them from social security or PF workers.
Dependence of pension on length of service
According to Russian pension legislation, citizens are awarded an insurance, state or social pension. Work experience is important when assigning only an insurance pension. For the state, length of service is taken into account, and social is assigned even to those who have not worked at all.
The amount of pension insurance is calculated for each applicant individually. It consists of two main parts:
- a fixed payment, the amount of which is determined for each category of applicants by decree of the Government of the Russian Federation;
- insurance part (individual pension coefficient multiplied by the cost of one pension point).
In 2020, to assign a monthly payment, you must have an insurance period (the time during which the employer made insurance contributions to the Pension Fund) of at least 10 years and an individual pension coefficient (sum of pension points) of at least 16.2.
The duration of official employment affects the possibility of receiving a bonus in the following cases:
- there is unaccounted experience due to the lack of supporting documents;
- the citizen continues to work after entering a well-deserved retirement;
- deferred retirement (for each year an increasing coefficient is applied to the fixed payment and the insurance part);
- The number of years worked allows you to receive the title “Veteran of Labor”.
What is included in work experience?
It is important to distinguish between the concepts of labor and insurance experience. The first is applied when assessing the pension rights of an applicant who was listed as employed before January 1, 2002. The length of work experience affects the calculated amount of the pension, which is subsequently converted into pension points using a special formula.
After January 1, 2002, the amount of the pension is affected by the amount of insurance contributions paid by the employer. From this moment on, the concept of “insurance period” appears.
When calculating it, all periods of official work during which the Pension Fund received contributions from the employer are taken into account. Additionally, the so-called “non-insurance periods” are taken into account. This is the time when a citizen did not work due to certain circumstances:
- military service as a conscript soldier;
- maternity leave to care for a child from birth to one and a half years (no more than 6 years in total);
- caring for a disabled child, a citizen over 80 years of age or a disabled person of group 1;
- the time of serving the criminal sentence, if the person was subsequently rehabilitated;
- period of residence abroad if the spouse is a member of a diplomatic mission (no more than 5 years in total);
- time spent with a military spouse in an area where it is impossible to find employment in a specialty (maximum 5 years);
- receiving compulsory social insurance benefits during a period of temporary disability;
- time of receiving unemployment benefits;
- participation in paid public works.
The following periods are not taken into account when calculating the length of insurance that gives the right to receive additional payment:
- off-the-job training;
- caring for a child over 1.5 years old;
- lack of official employment without registration at the labor exchange;
- unofficial work activity.

Benefits for pensioners for long service
In addition to the fixed monthly surcharge, additional benefits for production are offered. They are appointed on the basis of the provisions of Federal Law No. 400, therefore they are represented by federal preferences. At the regional level, local authorities use their own ways to reward hardworking citizens.
The federal benefit consists of a special discount that is offered when paying for utilities. You have to find out the remaining types of relaxations yourself, since they differ significantly in different regions. Sometimes a discount is offered when paying property taxes, and some citizens receive medical, insurance and labor benefits.

Do I need to make an additional payment?
Upon reaching 30 or 40 years of service, citizens do not have to independently apply to various government agencies to apply for benefits, since the procedure is performed automatically. But if you are over 50 years old, you must write an application to receive support from the state.
Therefore, if the working life has reached 50 years, then the senior citizen will have to deal with the registration independently. To do this, it is initially recommended to contact social security and pension fund workers to find out about all support measures.
To receive the supplement, the following conditions must be met:
- the total number of working years exceeds 50;
- documented every year of work;
- The pensioner has finished his working career.
Attention! Often citizens are faced with the problem that they cannot prove official work in a given period of time, so they will have to contact archive workers or other government agencies to obtain certificates and other documents.
The work record book and certificates from places of work serve as evidence of experience. When filling out the application, indicate the details of the bank account to which the pension is transferred. It is allowed to use the services of a representative, but he must have a power of attorney certified by a notary.
An application can be submitted not only during a personal visit to the social security authorities, since the papers can be sent by mail or used remotely. Documents are reviewed within 30 days, after which the citizen receives a response.
If the decision is positive, a premium is awarded, and additional regional benefits and additional payments are offered.
But sometimes citizens are faced with refusal, and it is usually due to the following reasons:
- work experience is less than 50 years;
- there are no documents confirming work in certain periods;
- the application was drawn up incorrectly;
- a citizen officially works, so he can count on financial support only after dismissal.
Often, citizens simply do not provide social security representatives with the necessary documentation, so they have to bring the papers in order to count on additional payment.

What additional payments are due to pensioners for work experience of more than 35 years?
Recently, information has been spreading on the Internet that citizens are entitled to recalculate their pensions after 35 years of work experience. Its essence is to increase the IPC by 1 pension point. Please note that current legislation does not provide for this possibility.
An increase in pension in 2020 is possible if the pensioner continues to work. In this case, on August 1, an undeclared recalculation of the insurance pension provision is carried out, taking into account the pension points accumulated over the previous year.
An additional payment to the pension for work experience of more than 35 years in 2020 can only be accrued to a woman when awarded the title “Veteran of Labor”. To obtain status, you must apply not to the Pension Fund, but to the local social security department. The title is awarded not at the federal level, but in accordance with regional legislation. Only after receiving such status is a bonus awarded for work experience of more than 35 years.
For unaccounted experience
If there is documentary evidence of unaccounted service (extracts from orders, contracts, certificates), the pensioner has the right to recalculate pension payments upward by including periods in the insurance or work experience. To do this, you need to submit an application to the Pension Fund or the Multifunctional Center (MFC). Recalculation will be made based on the number of pension points accrued during this time.
For “non-insurance periods” pension points are accrued using a different method. For each year, 1.8 points are awarded. An exception is the time of caring for a newborn until he is 1.5 years old:
- for the first child – 1.8 points/year;
- for the second – 3.6 points/year;
- for the third – 5.4 points/year.
Recalculation of pensions for working pensioners
Seniority bonuses for length of continuous work are provided only to pensioners who continue to work after entering a well-deserved retirement. They are not entitled to annual indexation of pension provision, which since 2020 has been carried out since January by a percentage predetermined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The pension is recalculated upward by increasing the number of pension points, the maximum number of which is limited to three.
From January 2020, the cost of one point is 87.24 rubles. Based on this, the amount of additional payment will be a maximum of 261.72 rubles. A full recalculation of the pension, taking into account all previously made indexations, is due to the citizen only after dismissal.

Labor veterans
Currently, the status of “labor veteran” is assigned in accordance with regional legislation. Residents of Moscow are given honorary status if they, as minors, began working during the Great Patriotic War, and have 35 years of experience or more (for women) and at least 40 years (for men).
In 2020, Muscovites can also receive the title for long-term work (it is necessary to confirm their place of residence), who have an insurance record of 25 years or more (men) or at least 20 years (women) or the length of service necessary to assign a long-service pension, and in this case they meet one of the following conditions:
- awarded medals or orders;
- awarded honorary titles of Russia or the USSR;
- awarded certificates of honor or received gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation;
- awarded departmental insignia for merit in labor (service) and long-term work (service) of 15 years or more in a certain field of activity.
How much will the pension for Moscow labor veterans be increased?
The additional payment to the pension in Moscow for labor veterans is 1 thousand rubles. The application is considered within 10 working days from the date of submission of the application and provision of the entire package of documents.
The city pension supplement is calculated from the 1st day of the month following the month of application.
